The Best Places for Retirees to Live and Work in 2020

Curious how Boise fares for retirement? This article compares 525 U.S. cities (each with a population of at least 65,000) across a wide range of metrics including:  unemployment rate for seniors, housing costs as a percentage of retirement income, crime rates, estimated tax burden for seniors, etc. With a senior unemployment rate of 2.4% and housing costs making up just 25.9% of retirement income (which is safely below the threshold of being "housing cost-burdened"), Boise is noted among the 'Top 5 Large Cities for Retirees to Live and Work'. US Cities Pledge to Play Their Part in Supporting Global Trillion Trees Movement

Boise is yet again proving itself to be "The City of Trees" by joining forces with a handful of US cities including Dallas, Detroit and Tucson to help combat extreme heat and wildfires by planting and preserving more trees. Justin Adams, director of Nature Based Solutions, WEF is quoted in the article as saying “A nature-positive recovery is crucial to a great reset of our society and economy. Putting trees at the heart of this reset will help ensure it is sustainable for us and future generations.”

POWER RANKING: The 15 Best US Cities for Women Business Owners

For women entrepreneurs looking to land funding, grow their network, and build successful businesses it looks like western and southern cities, such as Seattle, Boise and Scottsdale, are clear winners . This article pulls from a recently released Fundera report (which you can read in its entirety here). "It's not just you, everyone is talking about Boise right now. Idaho's capital city was named the fastest-growing city in 2018, the best place to live for millennials in 2019, and the best US city to buy a house last year. Female founders in Boise also have access to a large skilled workforce, low housing costs, and a small earnings gap between male entrepreneurs.

Mountain Time Is the Best Time Zone in America

The Mountain Time (MT) zone seems to be one that throws non-Mountain Time zoners. It seems most are typically pretty clear on Eastern (ET), Central (CT) and Pacific (PT) time zones - but MT causes some to scratch their heads.  However, the author of this colorful article thinks MT is yet another one of Boise metro's "hidden" secrets. Dozens of Idaho Businesses Hit 2020's ‘Fastest-Growing’ Company List

And 27 Idaho-based businesses hit the list, representing more than $596 million in total revenue, as well as 966 new jobs. These businesses include ecommerce, clothing, RVs, and more.
