According to a recent report from Attom Data Solutions, the average American's ability to afford a home is currently at a 10-year low. With that said, not all hope is lost. And please note that this list of "best places" isn't simply compiled of the cheapest; as you will see, it includes a few seemingly "pricey" cities (such as Boston and Miami) as well as up-and-coming cities (such as Boise and Chattanooga, Tennessee).
