The Idaho Department of Labor recently reported that Idaho's unemployment rate has dropped to 2.7%. This marks the 13th consecutive month Idaho's unemployment rate has been at (or below) 3%. It is also well below the national unemployment rate, which dropped to 3.7% in September.

Booming house prices in California have brought a wave of newcomers to the Boise area. For some Californians, the state's high housing costs and taxes rates are forcing them to look elsewhere. This article explains that "California’s history of booms and busts has fueled exoduses before, but its soaring real estate costs have made living there ever more difficult for people who don’t earn big salaries. In the second quarter, only 26 percent of homebuyers in the state could afford to purchase a median-price single-family house, which was almost $600,000, according to the California Association of Realtors".
